It is with deep regret and anguish that we announce the sad news of demise of Professor Priti Shankar late last night (October 17, 2011).

The Department of CSA has lost its most valuable member. She served CSA and IISc with distinction as a faculty member for 38 years. She was an excellent researcher, exemplary teacher, and an extraordinary human being.

A two page autobiographical essay by dear madam is attached. The essay appeared in "Lilavati's Daughters: The Women Scientists of India" published by the Indian Academy of Sciences in 2008.
